“What We Bought This Month” is a recurring series showing what three real, hard-working Mamanistas spent their money on this month.
Aimee’s Purchases
I was chugging along pretty nicely with my goal for limiting my spending in April after only what could be called March’s shopping binge. By the middle of the month, my only purchases were a few skin care items and a camo bomber jacket from Target. Just as I was about to pat myself on the back for being the thriftiest Mamanista on the block, I got an amazing Stitch Fix and Sarah’s shoes that I have been coveting FOREVER went on sale. In my defense, I had a coupon and got them for almost half-price! Life is short, buy the shoes, right?! In May, my shopping focus is to upgrade my underthings. (Okay, I’m 30-something and still cringe at the word “panties”. Who’s with me?!)
Number of Items Purchased: 10 (2 dresses, 1 jacket, 1 pair of my absolute favorite Margaret M pants, 2 shirts, and a fabulous pair of shoes)
Total Amount Spent: $350
Favorite Item Purchased: Sarah was right: you NEED these shoes.
Liz’s Purchases
I started the month out strong: I kept my entire Stitch Fix, ordered some new swimwear and indulged in a few pieces from the #VBxTarget collection. So, I decided to give Le Tote a try as a way to control my spending while keeping my looks fresh each week. I’ll give a full review when my first month ends, but it’s safe to say that it didn’t do much to curtail my shopping. A shout-out to my mail man — thank you for promptly delivering all of my online purchases. I know you work hard, and I promise to spruce up my porch a little more for you and bake some cookies for you during the holidays.
Number of Items Purchased: 16 (3 swimsuits, 2 dresses, 2 skirts, 1 pair of harem pants, 1 pair of shorts, 5 tops, 1 pair of shoes and 1 bracelet)
Total Amount Spent: $463
Favorite Item Purchased: Lulu Block Heel Sandals – They are comfortable, go with anything and make me feel like a MILF. #justsaying
Sarah’s Purchases
This month was filled with all the busyness that comes with life as a working mom. The upside and the downside is that meant lots of travel with family and for work. Definitely more ups than downs but with all that travel came more specific purchase needs this month. Okay, and maybe a few impulse buys on a gift card! On my list this month were work clothes, a swimsuit for vacation, and white jeans.
Did I mention white jeans? Ugh! These are so in right now but have been a bit of a mystical unicorn for me this season. Between length and finding a pair that I didn’t feel like wrinkled across the back of my thighs, I think I’ve tried on every “must have” pair of white jeans known to man. These Articles of Society jeans have spandex in them and stretch like leggings which actually helps them stay up and not sag or wrinkle where they shouldn’t. They run true to size and are ultra comfy. Definite bonus points there!
Number of Items Purchased: 9 (1 dress, 3 shirts, 1 pair of jeans, 3 swimsuit pieces and amazing, stayput lip stain/gloss from lipsense)
Total Amount Spent: $378 before gift cards and store credit … $168 final total
Favorite Item Purchased: Articles of Society White Jeans … mystical unicorn found!
