Trendsend Review: Early Fall

Fall is my absolute favorite season! I’m that girl who can’t wait for campfires, hikes in the mountains, carving pumpkins and dragging my family apple picking!

In the south, fall weather doesn’t always magically cooperate as soon as the calendar hits September so I reached out to my stylist at Evereve’s Trendsend for some help balancing the fall season with temps that feel a bit more like summer! If you’re not already familiar with how Trendsend works, click here to learn more about the program.

So what did I get in my Trendsend box this month?

Peyton Jensen Kiki Short Dress, $29.99 (on sale) & Thirty-Nine 42 Chloe Circle Drop Earrings, $16

I’ll admit I was skeptical of this dress at first. In my mind, I wanted pieces that were fall-ready and a sleeveless dress seemed far from that list. The olive color was right for fall though and the $29.99 sale price was hard to resist so I tried it on anyway. First, this dress fits perfectly and the knit fabric is super soft and comfortable. Bonus – it has sewn in shorts underneath which makes it a great solution for weekend festivals or running around with the kids. I plan to layer it with my denim jacket when cooler weather hits.  The earrings were really great and I could definitely picture myself wearing them this fall but I have a ton of earrings so I decided to return them (although I’m admittedly kicking myself for that decision now!).

Verdict: Keep Olive Dress but Returned the Gold Circle Earrings.

Marrakech Rachel Moto Jacket, $158; Peyton Jensen Aly Rugby StripeTank, $38; Kut from the Kloth Connie Ankle Skinny Jeans, $64

As soon as I pulled this outfit out of the box, I immediately loved everything about it. I can definitely imagine wearing this on weekends and date nights this fall. On further inspection however, I realized that part of why I liked everything so much is that I have very similar pieces in my closet already. I toyed around with keeping the olive striped tank but it fit a little short in the body for me so back it all goes. If you’re in the market for a moto jacket, this one fits like a glove although it carries a bit of a hefty price tag. If you’re looking for a trendier splurge piece, this is a great option.

Verdict: Return all three.

Stitches & Stripes Bianca Eyelash Back Sweater, $59.99 (on sale); SPANX Faux Leather Moto Legging, $110; Free People Dream Away Bralette in Pumpkin, $16.99 (on sale)

This pumpkin colored open back sweater had this fall girl super excited as soon as I pulled it out of the box. I already own a pair of black faux leather leggings so I thought this outfit was meant to be! The sweater is super soft and the pumpkin color is totally on trend for the fall but after trying it on and off, I kept catching my ring and my fingernails on the “eyelash” part of the sweater back. The fabric is pretty delicate in the back and I feared snagging it repeatedly and ruining it so I decided to send the sweater back. I kept the lace bralette in pumpkin because anything with pumpkin in the color has to be a winner! The SPANX faux leather moto leggings took a bit of shimmying to get into and if you’re a fan of SPANX, they fit the bill. I hate anything touching my stomach so the “cinching in” SPANX is famous for was actually a drawback for me.

Verdict: Return sweater and leggings; Keep pumpkin bralette.

Overall, I really liked all of the individual pieces but I’m trying to shop more consciously and keep some sort of monthly budget. That meant making some tough choices. If money were no object, I honestly would have probably kept it all. All the pieces were versatile to mix with my other wardrobe pieces and were high quality. Given a more limited budget, however, I kept the dress and the bralette which both happened to be on sale and easy to work into my wardrobe for fall.
