#OOTD: Getting Lucky

Outfit of the Day

My favorite way to unwind is leisurely browsing shopping websites or strolling through Target and Nordstrom Rack. I have no intentions of buying anything unless I find something so incredible and at such a great price that I would be foolish not to make a purchase. But that’s unlikely to happen, right? So, this is truly a relaxation technique and should in no way be considered shopping. And that’s exactly what you should say if my husband ever asks, okay?

While relaxing with a friend in Nordstrom Rack last summer, I tried on a green dress just for fun and fell in love. I wasn’t going to purchase it until I saw the price. This dress – which fit like a glove, gave me good color even under the florescent fitting room lights and would make for the perfect daytime wedding guest dress – was  marked down to $19.98. Obviously, the universe was telling me to treat myself.

I had forgotten all about it until last week when I was searching my closet for something to wear for St. Patrick’s Day. Since the dress is a little formal for work, I dressed it down today by adding a waist belt and layering a navy blazer over it for some color blocking. Bonus: I found my nude pumps on clearance at Target for $7.98, and this belt was a recommended item on Amazon for $12.99. Some may call it luck, but I like to think of these as gifts from the fashion gods.

Preppy, southern St. Patrick’s Day style.
