“What We Bought This Month” is a recurring series showing what three real, hard-working mamanistas spent their money on this month.
I’m not going to lie, September has me dreaming of bonfires, college football, pumpkin spice lattes and all things fall! In Georgia though, September means it’s still 80 degrees on most days so I decided to freshen up my wardrobe with a few transition pieces and accessories seemed like just the way to do that! This month’s purchases focused on things I can mix and match into my existing wardrobe to help me bridge the transition from summer to fall here in the south.
Number of Items Purchased: 11 (1 sweater, 1 pair of pants, 3 tops, 1 tote, 1 scarf, 2 necklaces, 1 pair of earrings, 1 beauty item)
Total Amount Spent: $142.95 (thanks to Amazon Prime lightning deals, Athleta Ambassador work, and ShopTMM owner discount)
Favorite Item Purchased: Until this week my answer was most definitely my new reversible tote from Amazon because I was in desperate need of a new work bag and well, it’s reversible so that’s a brown and black bag in one! Then a pair of earrings happened! These Navy Fan Fringe earrings from ShopTMM were at first glance a bit out of my comfort zone but I was intrigued. They instantly glam up any outfit and I’ve already worn them 2 times in my first week owning them. The navy makes them surprisingly neutral and easy to mix in to my outfit of the day.
Because my almost-three-year-old is growing faster than I can buy clothes, and her style is really shining through, most of my purchases lately have been for her. I can’t help myself, and I’ve got Le Tote, so… However, I am starting to shop for some cool weather staples, so I treated myself to a few things from our new Shop TMM inventory and a pair of old man loafer slides that I absolutely adore.
In the next three months, we have family gatherings, weddings, holiday shopping and a trip to Disney for Cate’s birthday (yes, I’m *that* mom) on the calendar, so I’m being particularly frugal. So, my M.O. is to bargain shop for trendy pieces that are versatile and save my dough for the pricier investment pieces I have on my radar, like a new peacoat, riding boots, a cashmere sweater and jeans. Now that we are finally feeling some cooler weather in the ATL, I’ll have a more exciting report of fall/winter finds for you next month. (Just don’t tell my husband, k?)
Number of Items Purchased: 4 (kimono, moto leggings, necklace and slides)
Total Amount Spent: $100
Favorite Item Purchased: I’m pretty pleased with all of my September finds. Each piece can be dressed up or down, and I feel like I’m stepping out of my comfort zone by trying some new trends. But the purple kimono is the one piece that really stands out in my closet right now, and I feel like I’m channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw when I wear it. So, we’ll call that my favorite.
