What We Bought in February

Let's Spend Some Money

Aimee’s Purchases

My February purchases were centered around things that could transition into Spring and finding them at a GREAT price point. I am ready to shed my normal color palette of black and navy and venture into the crazy world of light grey with a criss cross pullover cardigan that I’ve had my eye on for awhile. Thanks to an Amazon lightning deal, I scored it for $10! Other spring updates included a new pair of new low-heeled perforated booties and a striped tee.

The two pairs of pull-on pants in navy and black were not on the overall plan (or budget), but I heard they were a cost-effective alternative to our favorite Margaret M pants, so I went for it. A working woman can never have enough pairs of comfy black pants, and did I mention they pull on?! Its like working in office-appropriate yoga pants. As I was patting myself on the back for how little I had spent this month, a Stitch Fix that I had forgotten I scheduled came in. I fell in love with a black pair of leggings and a purple shirt and quickly added another $100 to my monthly total. I have my eye on a pair of leopard print booties from Amazon but am forcing myself to wait until March’s paycheck. Self-restraint is not my style.

Number of Items Purchased: 11 (6 shirts, 1 necklaces, 1 pair of shoes, 3 pairs of pants)

Total Spent: $227

Sarah’s Purchases

My February purchases started off on the responsibly fashionable note from a budget standpoint and then… I found a pair of amazing Dolce Vita Leopard Block Sandals which doubled my spend for the month! I fretted over spending the money but decided to use a bit of my tax refund on the splurge, because I can immediately think of at least a dozen outfits that would be better with leopard block sandals. And because sometimes life is short and you just need to buy the shoes!

Outside of my new favorite leopard shoes, my February purchases focused on embracing new spring trends like floral patterns, cutout shirts, knotted tees, and tasseled jewelry and accessories. While I love everything I bought this month, totaling it all up does make me cringe. I’m hoping that a more expensive spend in February means that I’ve set a solid foundation for the spring trends ahead and that I will be back on budget for March. Fingers crossed for added willpower next month!

Number of Items Purchased: 8 (3 shirts,  1 pair of shoes, 1 purse, 1 bra, 1 necklace and 1 pair of earrings)

Total Spent: $356.26

Favorite Item Purchased: Most definitely my Dolce Vita Leopard Booties… I’m a little obsessed!

Liz’s Purchases

I wish I could say that there’s a method to my shopping madness, but let’s be real. I am not that strategic. I do, however, have a rule that any purchase must be able to be worn at least three different ways. For example, the lace blouse I ordered can be worn with white jeans and wedges for our upcoming family photos, tucked into a pencil skirt and layered with a blazer for work, or paired with dark jeans and my new block heel pumps for a date night.

At almost $300, I’m definitely at my max budget for the month. But I got some great pieces for spring, and I am throwing down the gauntlet to be a thriftier shopper in March!

Total Number of Items Purchased: 9 (2 tops, 1 pair of jeans, 1 dress, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 necklaces and a bracelet)

Total Spent: $275.91

My Favorite Item: The Brie Block Heel Pumps are AMAZING, to say the least. The color is the perfect neutral, and the shoes could not be more comfortable. You can expect to see me wearing these a lot in the coming months!

This is genius! Though I’m a first time mom and a stay at home one with a 3 month old, I found this post very inspirational! I cant remember the last time I wore something other then sweats and a hoodie BUT after reading this, it’s time to dress like a functioning human again hahaha! I think the tip of making purchases then can be worn various ways is very smart. I’ll definitely shop with that tip in mind!

Yes! Trying to find three different ways to wear a piece is a great filter for if you should really buy it or not. Now, if only I followed that advice, my monthly total may have been a little lower. There’s always March!

Loved Aimee’s Hilary Ridley pull-on pants. From Costco? And for only $14.99? This working mom is definitely going to pick up a pair (or two)! 😁

Costco is such a great place to find good basics, and sometimes even designer goods, at a great price! I’ve already worn the pants a few times and love them. They are a good duplicate of our favorite Margaret M pants from Stitch Fix.

Beautiful clothes! Love the floral cut out tee and the criss cross pullover. Still at the annoying in between stage where maternity clothes are too big and don’t feel very comfortable in my normal clothes (for the third baby lol, getting used to this) so always an ideal time to have one or two extra floaty tops!

Sometimes you’ve just got to buy the shoes! Right?!! They can totally make an entire outfit!
