Box Subscriptions are like a dream come true for busy mamas! A personal stylist picks out clothes and they magically ship to you for you to try on in the comfort of your own home. What more could a mama ask for?!!
There are countless subscription services out there – Stitch Fix, Le Tote, Evereve Trendsend, and Trunk Club with a range of styles and price points to meet almost any budget or style. Trunk Club is managed by Nordstrom and runs on the higher end of the price range typically although they’ve added more styles under $100 since being acquired by Nordstrom which is music to my ears.
This time, I requested a Fall Trunk with some top trends for 2018. Here’s a list of what I got in this trunk…
I’m typically a heels kind of girl but I’m trying to embrace the whole flats trend this fall. I’ve had success picking bright colors or fun patterns to help me feel stylish and less “marmish” in flats versus heels at work. I had mixed feelings on these when I pulled them out of the box. At first glance there isn’t anything particularly special about them, they’re your basic black flats and at $89.95 I was skeptical. After putting them on, the pointed toe makes them feel and look a bit more stylish but on my they aren’t super comfortable and $89.95 feels like about $70 too much to spend on basic flats. Back they go!
Gibson is the line that the popular blogger, Living in Yellow has recently struck up a partnership with to develop her own line which had me super excited to see what all the fuss was about. Erin at Living in Yellow always describes soft fabrics as feeling like butter and that was my exact thought as I tried this magenta top on. It’s a little low cut compared to my usual style (which of course my husband loved!) but out of all of the items in the box, this one had potential for a great date night outfit.
One of the items I requested in my Trunk was a plaid button down for fall that didn’t make me look or feel like a lumberjack! With broad shoulders and a 34 C/D bust that’s not such an easy task! This shirt was a pretty color, not the bold red plaid or classic black and white I envisioned but I tried to remain open. The frayed bottom gave this top added detail which I loved. After trying it on however, the buttons pulled across the bust. At least that means I succeeded in not being mistaken for a lumberjack!
This top is seriously the softest thing I’ve ever put on my body! The high low cut makes it perfect to layer over a pair of faux leather leggings this holiday season! For fall I was really focused on adding burgundy, forest green and mustard colors to my wardrobe but now that the holidays are getting closer I regret not keeping this one! It would have been perfect paired with a glitzy rhinestone necklace and leather leggings for more casual holiday parties. You can score this one at Nordstrom.com too!
Verdict: Return but I Should Have Kept This One.
This jacket screamed cozy, comfortable weekend style! I immediately pictured myself fashionable and comfortable running around with my husband and kids on the weekends. I tried every which way to make this one work but unfortunately it was just too big and Trunk Club didn’t have the next size down in stock at the time. If you score this one on Nordstrom.com, be sure to size down!
Verdict: Return… although my size is back in stock at Nordstrom.com so it might end up in my closet anyway!
These fun jeans are definitely a bit outside my comfort zone but I was excited to try them on! The upside is that they fit a lot like regular jeans which makes their trendy side stripe feel a little less intimidating. Unfortunately at 5’8″, the “crop” option is a whole lot shorter than I think the designer intended. I’m between a size 26 and 27 and these were super tight in a size 26 so I’d suggest sizing up if you’re between sizes. If you prefer to order directly through Nordstrom, these are currently available online through Nordstrom.com.
DISCLOSURE: The Trunk Club link in this post contains a referral code, where I will receive $50 off my next order if someone signs up for a new account using my link. However, all clothing was purchased with my own money and I was in no way paid for my review of these items.
