Trendsend Review: Summer Trends

Mom Life, Reviews

Stitch Fix is a favorite of mine but sometimes I feel like the words “mom” and “40” pigeon hole me into a certain “list” of clothing choices somewhere in their database. And after a bit of a bust this month with Stitch Fix, I decided to request another Evereve Trendsend box.

It works a lot like Stitch Fix in that you complete a style profile and schedule your box to ship. Unlike Stitch Fix, however, there is no styling fee and you can schedule as many or as few as you want. While Stitch Fix sends you 5 items and offers a discount if you purchase all 5, Trendsend sends you 6-10 items to create 3 full outfits and does not offer a discount for purchasing all or multiple items. Trendsend also sends along a nice personalized letter describing each item in detail and fills their boxes with inspiring, mom positive … those custom, feel good touches are definite wins in my book!

Both services have pros and cons but let’s face it, at the end of the day I LOVE that I can have a box of clothes shipped to my house, pour a glass of wine and try them on, keep what I like and send back what doesn’t work. That’s an all-around win in my book!

So enough talk, let’s see what I got! Without further ado, here is my review of my Summer Trends Trendsend Box by Evereve….

Outfit One

Stylist’s note: I am so excited for you to try this outfit on! I created it after seeing a similar outfit on your Pinterest. The Blank boyfriend shorts are such a comfy pair for Spring and Summer that you can easily dress up or down. Stripes and floral are such a fun combo so I layered the beautiful kimono over the striped tank. Throw on a fashion sneaker when you’re with the kids and transition to your date night with a wedge and jewelry.

Outfit Details:

Status: I love how soft this kimono is. This trend is tough for me to wear with my broad shoulders but the length and fabric of this makes it flowy enough to work! I love it paired with the striped tank the stylist sent! And can we talk about these shorts?!!! By now, you’ve heard about my LOVE for BlankNYC denim! These shorts live up to every bit of hype the jeans earned. I can’t say enough good things about them but unfortunately I just can’t justify the pricetag on them for a pair of denim shorts:( Outfit #1 is a win!

Outfit Two

Stylist’s note: The Soleil Skirt is going to be such a fun piece for you this Spring and Summer! It’s another piece that’s easy to wear casually with the kids or dress up for date night. The slub tuck tee will refresh your basics for the season and the Mesh cardy will be a wonderful lightweight layering piece.

Outfit Details:

Status: I loved the mesh of this cardigan but unfortunately it was just too big all over and ended up swallowing me up. It would have been a great layering piece for spring and summer with skirts and shorts then carry me through for fall and winter with skinny jeans. I’m a bit sad that this one didn’t work out size wise!  From there the whole outfit kind of went downhill for me. The skirt fit like a glove, but it felt a bit too “bootylicious” for me to justify keeping it for work. It would be a great piece to pair down for weekends with a tee or tank and dress up for work if the fit wasn’t so va-va-voom for the office! I love a good knotted tee and this one fit great. I have a few white tees however and for $58 I just couldn’t justify adding another. Outfit too had potential but was a “Return to Sender” in the end.

Outfit Three

Stylist’s note: Here are two figure flattering dresses I think you are going to love! The Michael Stars dress is brand new and will be a fun date night piece with a statement necklace and wedge. I saw that you like camo so I had to send you this comfy dress from Z Supply. It will be the perfect weekend piece that is sure to turn heads.

Outfit Details:

Status: I absolutely love the fit of the Michael Stars striped wrap dress and the tie sash on the side gives it a unique edge that makes it fun for work with a pair of floral pumps. It’s also very wearable on the weekends if I dress it down with some sandals and maybe a denim jacket for cooler nights.  As much as I’d love to be a camo girl (obviously based on my stylists comment, I pinned a lot of it to my Pinterest board), I just don’t think I can pull off this trend!  I loved the lace up front but overall I think it was just too baggy and too camo to fit my style. For Outfit #3, the striped one is a definite winner and back goes the camo option!
