As Cinderella will tell you, the right pair of shoes can change your life. In this case that my be a bit of an overstatement but as we enter month seven of the pandemic and look ahead to fall, the right pair of shoes just might change your whole outlook.

The right pair of shoes can add an instant update to your usual go to outfits, take an outfit from okay to fabulous and give you the boost of confidence you need to feel like a total #bossbabe or #supermom. In honor of all things fall, here are five pumpkin spice-worthy shoes for every occasion.

Fur Accents

Over the past few years, faux fur has become synonymous with fall and winter. With more and more people working from home, faux fur accents on everything from sneakers to slippers to boots are making a big entrance at your favorite retailer. This cozy footwear pairs well with your work from home wardrobe or weekend casual.

Chain Details

Chunky chains have made their way from bracelets and necklaces this year to shoes for fall and winter. I’m loving the contrast between classic and edgy with this season’s heavy metal chains on footwear. This trend works great across all across all shoe silhouettes, including boots, heels, and flats. Mules and boots with chain detailing are on my “buy list” for autumn.

Mary Janes

The Mary Jane is back in every shape, style and color you can imagine. Yes, we mean those Mary Janes your mom made you wear in elementary school but aged up a bit. That familiar little girl strappy flat has been made #BossBabe with platforms, kitten heels and more.

By far the most practical shoe trend this season is the wellie. After months of off and on rainy day carpool pick-ups at school, I’m a big fan of this trend! While Hunter rain boots are still top of my list, I’m also loving the shorter wellie ankle boot trend. Add a pair of boot liners or knee high socks to make this trend even more cozy as rain turns to wintery slush.

OTK Boots

Over-the-knee boots were predicted to be a big fall trend at New York Fashion Week. These were trendy a few years ago before giving way to ankle boots last season. If you still have a pair of OTK boots in your closet, this fall and winter is the perfect time to break them back out! Fingers crossed all our favorite patios add fireplaces for fall so we can wear these out for a fall date night.

Chunky Lug Soles

Think Doc Martens of the 90s and you have a good picture of this predicted fall trend. Chunky soles in various silhouettes made their way down the runway in February 2020. A combination of more casual work from home fashion and a general feeling of remaining a little tougher than expected during the pandemic and reminiscing about yesteryear seem to be lending steam to this trend. Heck, if Birkenstocks can make a comeback this year, why not Dr. Martens?
