threadUp Goody Box Review

Reviews, Style

If you haven’t heard of thredUp yet, it’s a great website where you can buy gently used women’s and children’s clothing and accessories at bargain prices. The website sorts items by designer and even offers some items still with tags. I’ve gotten some great individual pieces so i decided to try the thredUp Goody Box.

The box is basically like Stitch Fix of Secondhand fashion. You fill out a brief profile then thredUp sends you a box filled with 10 items, starting at $20 per piece. Your $10 styling fee is credited toward anything you keep and the box includes a free return shipping label to send back anything you don’t want.

I’ll admit there is still a part of me that is always a bit skeptical of secondhand clothing until I can actually see it in person but for $10, I figured the box was worth a try. Below are all the hits and misses and should-have-beens.

Item #1

Review: This little black dress fits like a dream and still had designer tags on it! For under $30, who doesn’t need another LBD that makes you feel classy and sexy! Win!

Verdict: Keep all day long!

Item #2

Review: This Zara top was really cute out of the box and I always love the brand on other people. I tend to struggle with fit with this brand though and this top was too narrow in the shoulders for me. The Zara struggle continues for me.

Verdict: Return for fit.

Item #3

Review: The AG skinny fit black jeans have a bit of shimmer that would have made them perfect for date night. Unfortunately they run at least 1… maybe 2 sizes small! Fortunately, the style was so spot on, I have a pair of BlankNYC almost just like these in my closet already!

Verdict: Return for fit.

Item #4

Review: I couldn’t believe I pulled this one out of my box! If you’ve been a Stitch Fixer for any time now, you know this was a unicorn for many people last summer! Keep for sure and bonus, it’s just over $20!

Verdict: Keep all day long!

Item #5

Review: I really don’t need anymore jewelry but this one is Baublebar, $16 and has just enough edge that I can already see how it could dress up a ton of my tops, sweaters and dresses (including the two I’m) keeping from this box!

Verdict: Keep!

Item #6

Review: This Skies Are Blue vest is so pretty in person and the faux fur accent gives you the feel of a trendy faux fur vest without the bulk. The sweater back in navy gives it a smoothly layered look. I love it so much that I already have it in my closet which is the only reason it’s going back.

Verdict: Return, only because I already have it.

Item #7

Review: These AG wine colored beans are so soft they feel like butter on! They fit true to size and the color is great for winter. The stylist was spot on picking these for me, I already have a very similar pair hanging in my closet.

Verdict: Return, only because I have a similar pair already.

Item #8

Review: Normally this blush color is too pale against my skin but this one is really pretty and feminine on. I was tempted to keep this one but found myself hesitating a bit on the color so back this LOFT beauty goes.

Verdict: Return.

Item #9

Review: Flare and Bootcut jeans are making a quiet resurgence in the fashion world. These designer jeans were a great way to embrace the trend for under $30 but the ultra low rise cut made me pause a bit so back they go.

Verdict: Return.

Item #10

Review: I was excited to see this Anthropologie dress in my box still with tags on. It fits like a glove and the tweedy texture is great for winter. The flare sleeves and color didn’t quite jive with me though so back it goes. It’s such a great deal at under $30 but back it goes since it wasn’t a love!

Verdict: Return.

Item #11

Review: This classic navy stone tassel necklace is always a favorite go to. At under $16 it’s a great alternative to the almost $100 Kendra Scott. I already have a very similar one so back it goes.

Verdict: Return.

Overall Verdict: I honestly can’t say enough good things about my Goody Box. For my $10 styling fee, I got 11 pieces from my stylist and all of them were spot on with my style or a great, subtle push out of my comfort zone. I received pieces from Anthropologie and lots of designer items still with tags and nothing over $40! That right there is a win in my book. I could have easily kept everything but in 2019 I’m trying to be more thoughtful about my spend and only buy what I absolutely love and the three things I kept I love!❤️

Clothes can be SO expensive! This looks like such a great idea. I hate seeing things going to waste.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how nice the clothes are and the number of designer and well known brands they offer. ❤️

A friend told me about it and I’m so glad she did! There are so many designer items still with tags too! That’s always a bonus!

Yes! It almost makes you not feel guilty for buying designer clothing when it’s that discounted!
