The Mamanista Approved Picks for Spring

Purple Rain

Not since Prince’s smash hit, “Purple Rain” has purple been the subject of so much talk around town! Ultraviolet was predicted to be the pantone color of the year for 2018 and lavender seems to be the break away color for spring! Shades of lilac and lavender are everywhere on runways this spring on everything from sequined dresses to knits and suits. This color feels peaceful and feminine which is the exact opposite of how we feel on most days so that’s probably a good thing. Below are our favorite lavender picks for spring, all under $100!

Modern Romance

No, we’re not talking about the latest 50 Shades of Gray movie, think ruffles and soft romantic florals for Spring. Florals aren’t going anywhere this season but are getting a makeover with soft colors and vintage inspired patterns on everything from blouses to pants and dresses. Ruffles are also popping up on dresses and blouses and even shoes this year in subtle and not so subtle ways. Let’s face it, it’s hard to feel girly and feminine after cleaning baby spit up out of your hair… maybe some ruffles will help us fake it a bit!

Power Pastels

Whether lilac, pink, lemon or robin egg blue, power pastels are every wear this spring! These aren’t the sugary sweet pastels your mom made your wear as a child, think ice cream and sorbet colors and pastel punched up a notch. We think we can get on board with anything that has to do with ice cream!

Geometric Jewelry

On the flip side of the soft, flowy, feminine trends this season is a nod back to the 60s with geometric shapes popping up in jewelry and accessories. Favorite jewelry designers are showcasing earrings and necklaces in particular with bold shapes this season, with gold tones and shell materials taking the lead on this trend early this spring.

Haute Denim

From embellished jeans to dark denim dresses and suits, fancy denim is everywhere this spring and we couldn’t be happier about it! It’s like a mom’s dream come true… denim disguised as work wear? Yes please! Look for bejeweled, embroidered, mixed material, frayed bottom and even polka dot jeans for the weekend this spring. For the office, look for more polished darker denim pants, dresses, suits and blazers.
