This week at work we had one of my favorite fundraising events in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month: Pink Hair for Hope! A hair dresser comes in armed with extensions in various shades of pink, and women (and some brave men) line up to donate in exchange for semi-permanent pink hair extensions. This is my third year doing it, and it’s always fun. I like to put my pink behind my ear, so you get a little flash of it every now and then. I wear pink in honor of my mother-in-law, a breast cancer survivor.
If your workplace doesn’t offer pink hair, there are plenty of brands who offer limited edition items that will allow you to show your support in style.
Here are a few of our favorite items that support Breast Cancer Research:
The American classic designer turns his iconic pony pink in support of breast cancer awareness. The Pink Pony collection has always been a personal favorite of mine. When Lauren’s personal friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, the designer immediately thought he could “do more” for the cause. And he did. In May of this year, The Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research opened its doors, described as a “streamlined, sunlit hospital floor spanning 6,383 square feet where researchers and clinicians are focused on curing a variety of breast cancers using the latest equipment and resources.” 25 percent of the purchase price of Pink Pony products benefits the Pink Pony Fund of the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation to support programs for screening, early diagnosis, treatment, research and patient navigation.
Tory Burch has several different items that support breast cancer research, from bags to jewelry, but our favorite is this chic, light pink quilted phone case. Tory Burch is donating 20% from the purchase of each of these styles to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®
Whether you’re running errands, working out or chasing after a toddler, might as well do it in style with these pink shoes. New Balance will give a minimum donation of $500,000 from their annual sales to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
EOS Berry Blossom Body Lotion – $3.99 – $6.49
I love eos lip balm and their body lotion is just as nice. Plus, eos is donating 100% of all October Berry Blossom Body Lotion net profits to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to aide in the fight against breast cancer and create even more survivors.
If pink isn’t your thing, how about some bling?
Wear this delicate beauty by itself, or invite it to your next arm party. All proceeds will benefit Bright Pink, a nonprofit focusing on preventing and detecting cancer at a young age.
Loft Layered Gemstone Necklace – $39.50
A whopping 60% of the purchase price of this versatile piece will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
