#OOTD: Trying the Puff Sleeves Trend

Outfit of the Day
OOTD - Puff Sleeve from TheModernMamanista.com

I’ve been lusting over all of the different dramatic-sleeve dresses and tops, but “trendy” and “dramatic” are not typically adjectives used to describe my style. However, when I eyed a puff-sleeve blouse on sale on The Find Auctions, I decided to take the plunge. In full disclosure, I didn’t love the blouse when I first tried it on, so I asked my two-year-old if she liked Mommy’s new shirt. Her reply? “Nooo! Silly Mommy!” Well then…

I made a promise to be a little more adventurous with my wardrobe, and I refused to let my first attempt be a flop. So, I’m going to let y’all in on a little secret. If you wear something with confidence, people will almost always respond positively. Even if they aren’t sure whether they like the look, an I-don’t-care-what-anyone-thinks attitude will remove any doubt. And so, with that mindset, I decided to go for it and wore my new puff-sleeve shirt to work. I felt great, had fun wearing it and got a ton of compliments.

The sleeves did make it difficult to do some tasks, like dipping a chip into guac at lunch. So, I don’t recommend wearing sleeves this dramatic if you have plans to cook, finger paint or go out for fondue. This particular blouse is also a linen-like material, which is always a double-edged sword. Sure you stay cool, but as soon as you pick up a child or buckle your seat belt, you’ll be wrinkled.

The verdict: I’ll be wearing again and am currently looking for more fun drama to incorporate into my wardrobe.

Drama on my sleeves and sparkling rose in my hand … Who cares if I’m wrinkled?!
