#OOTD: Sheer Perfection

Outfit of the Day, Style

One of my favorite things to do is leisurely walk down every aisle of a store, admiring the items on display for sale. I get this from my dad, who used to haul me and my four siblings (all under age 10) through Sam’s Club and/or Kroger every weekend to grocery shop. He would walk us down every. single. aisle. as he pushed a shopping cart filled only with the items on his list. Looking back, this had to have been more painful for my dad than it was for us. As he shopped, Dad precisely counted the estimated cost of what was in his cart to compare with his budget for the week and what was left to buy from the list – all while we took turns asking him to buy some toy or sugary cereal. The man’s a saint.

I did learn a few things from this weekly exercise, including how to organize my shopping cart so I don’t look like this walking through the grocery store. I also know how to unload groceries onto the conveyor belt so that my purchases are bagged heaviest to lightest and grouped together in an orderly manner. Sadly, I still struggle to budget my money. I also don’t have near the patience of my dad, so you will rarely see me leisurely strolling through a store with my kid. So, I’m thankful for the ability to stroll virtually online every night as I fall asleep, which is how I found this wedding guest dress.

Last spring, I saved this find on my Amazon Wish List after stumbling upon it in a random Amazon search for party dresses. I had no party plans – yet – but a girl can dream, right? So, you can imagine my excitement a few weeks later when we received a save the date in the mail for a friend’s wedding. The sheer midriff was a bit intimidating, but the three-quarter sleeves and tea-length skirt balanced out that sexy, little detail. I had so much fun wearing this and got more compliments than I did on my own wedding day.

I love that my in-laws still take photos of us whenever we get dressed up to go somewhere.

Get the Look

Because the dress made a statement on its own, I paired it with simple black heels and minimal jewelry. I chose to carry a gold faux snakeskin clutch, because of its neutral color and fabric.
