Step into my closet, and you’ll notice my wardrobe is mostly comprised of fitted, cropped pants and pencil skirts, simple, loose-fitting blouses, and an array of accessories in different colors and prints. My style formula is the same as my approach to decorating; start with a neutral, classic foundation and add a splash of color/excitement in the accessories. And nearly year-round, a scarf serves as my fashion throw pillow.
On my calendar for today was an important morning meeting, several big deadlines and a dinner play date with the little one. So, I pulled my tried-and-true essentials for feeling comfortable day-to-night, confident and ready to take on anything that comes my way (which, so far, has included chasing my dog around the block, toddler negotiations, and a total technology fail – all before 10 a.m.). My first attempt was okay, but something was missing.
And then I remembered Sarah’s three-piece rule and grabbed one of my favorite scarves. This simple addition completely transformed my otherwise simple outfit, elongated my torso and dispelled the myth that you can’t wear two different animal prints.
WHAT I’M WEARING:
Everything I’m wearing today is from previous seasons (another reason I love neutral, timeless pieces) and, unfortunately, no longer available. Below are similar finds to pull off this look!
