I love giving and receiving subscription boxes. For the giver, gifting subscription boxes is convenient but can still be personable. For the recipient, receiving a subscription box is a great reminder of the original giver long after the holidays are over. Plus, they get to receive something in the mail that’s not a bill and is customized to their specific interests. Everybody wins!
Here we’ve rounded up our favorite subscription boxes to give – and get – as gifts. If you’re determined to have something to put under the tree, we’ve also added some suggested items that you can wrap along with the gift card.
The Best Suscription Boxes to Give (and Get!)
$35/month; $103 for 3 Month Subscription
Your Bijoux Box
will send you three pieces of sparkle each month with a bonus item. The pieces are high-quality, on-trend and usually found sold at major retailers for a much higher price point. I am a subscriber, and one of my favorite things about this box (other than receiving bling in the mail each month!) is how everything coordinates without being too matchy-matchy. Unlike some other subscription boxes, there is no customization of this box. Everyone receives the same one, but I believe you can request no earrings.
Pair with: a travel jewelry pouch for them to store their future baubles
Perfect for: your best friend; your sister
$10/month; $30 for 3 Month Subscription
When I open my mailbox and see ipsy’s signature magenta bubble mailer inside, I literally squeal and sit my kids down in front of the TV so I can have 5 minutes to open it.
Each month, ipsy’s beauty editors select a theme and then curate a glam bag around it. The ipsy Glam Bag
comes with five beauty items inside a custom makeup bag. Recipients can somewhat customize their glam bag by taking a short survey. I’ve received everything from make up to skin care items in my glam bag,
from both well-known brands and smaller indie ones. Items are a nice range of deluxe sample sizes mixed with full-size items. Ipsy also offers monthly discounts that complement with the items and products inside the bag.
Pair with: a set of makeup brushes
Perfect for: your son’s girlfriend; your teenage daughter; anyone who’s away at college; your best friend
$44 .97 for 3 Month Subscription
This is one I haven’t personally tried, but love the idea behind it. Each month, the editors pick 5 of the latest new releases across various genres. You pick the one that interests you the most and they’ll send it to you. Shipping is free, and you can add another book for only $9.99, which is cheaper than most e-books.
Pair with: a thick cozy blanket or bottle of wine
Perfect for: your child’s favorite teacher; your friend who’s always wanted to be in a book club
$50 minimum for gift subscriptions; meals will run about $9.99/person/serving
There is nothing I hate more than meal planning and then carting three kids to the grocery store. Meal delivery services like Home Chef are a god send. Every Tuesday, a package shows up on my door with every single ingredient I need to make a home cooked meal and its accompanied by a detailed recipe. There’s no “what’s for dinner?” or hunting down a random spice or ingredient.
Pair with: stackable measuring cups and wooden spoons
Perfect for: your single brother; any college kid in your life
This mom-owned company specializes in putting together unique and thoughtful boxes that encourage relaxation, gratitude and encouragement for women. I received one of their boxes as a thank you gift from a friend and loved everything inside it. Each box includes three to five items, blending together relaxation, fashion, décor, motivation, beauty and all of the other meaningful areas in her life. You can choose from a pre-assembled box
or build your own
– either way, we’re sure it will be a winner!
Pair with: a monogrammed notebook
Perfect for: Your boss; your co-worker; your friend who only eats organic
