Our round-up of what these Mamanistas are loving this month! Trust us, you’re going to want to see, read, buy and wear all the things!
1. What We’re Watching:
Get Schooled. Ever since the Netflix series Lost in Space went on hiatus, our family has been searching for a series we can watch each week as a family. The task is harder than you’d think with a houseful of teenagers! Enter the new ABC TV Series, Schooled, a spinoff of The Goldbergs set in the 1990s that follows the faculty of William Penn Academy including all the entertaining antics and chaos of their personal lives and life at school. Definitely better suited for older elementary schoolers and up so they get the humor but equally entertaining to adults who’ve been there! Bonus points if you are or every have been a teacher… you’ll get this show on a whole other level!
2. What We’re Wearing:
Cozy Sweaters and Sweatshirts. Maybe it’s the post holiday “fluff” or maybe it’s the fact that it’s been cold and rainy outside for longer than I can remember but I find myself reaching for oversized, cozy sweaters and comfy fleece pullovers and cardigans this month! This winter white cable knit poncho is one of my favorites. The cable knit texture and neutral color makes it the perfect combination for my “just stay warm and cozy” January style.
3. What We’re Listening To:
New Year. New You. The new year is a chance to change bad habits, reinvent yourself, dream and aim to live your best life! There’s nothing like a little chick rock to get you motivated whatever those dreams entail – workouts, amp yourself up to battle carpool, tackle your goals, the sky’s the limit! 4. What We’re Eating:
Instant Pot Mania. I may be a bit late to the game on this trend, but we received an Instant Pot for Christmas and we’re having a great time testing out recipes with the family. This week’s favorites include Mongolian Beef and Dump & Start Creamy Ziti. Both were yummy but of course the leave it and forget it aspect of the pasta was a bonus in our book, especially on our daughter’s dance practice night when schedules are a bit more hectic. I’d love to hear your favorite Instant Pot recipes!
5. What We’re Fri-YAY About:
Gratitude Journals. As busy mamas, let’s face it some days it’s hard to keep your head above watering balancing it all feels like drowning in to do lists, carpool pick ups, after school sports, school projects and work deadlines. You know you have so much to be grateful for and your head knows you once dreamed of all of these things, but your heart is struggling to get on board.
I started keeping a daily gratitude journal over the holidays and found it really helpful to remember all those good things in the midst of the chaos. For me, being able to “unload” some of the stress first and goal set for the day at home and work was a really helpful addition to just my daily 3 or 5 or 10 things I’m grateful for in my life. I keep mine in my yellow notes page of my phone but feel free to keep them in a Gratitude Journal or use the template below or a favorite journal instead.
