Five-Step Beauty Routine for Tired, Busy Mamas

Note: I received a free sample of Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir to try. All opinions expressed in this article are my own and, as always, are brutally honest. #mamadontlie

This morning, I had twenty minutes to get out the door on time to make a 9am meeting, because the snooze button is just too damn tempting. And I had to wash my hair, shave and dress my toddler. The odds were against me, but I did it and felt good about the end result.

At this point, it’s laughable how bad I am at waking up in the morning – especially after only five hours of sleep. I am fast building an impressive arsenal of time-saving tips and tricks for looking pulled together and concealing the tell-tale signs of sleepless nights. To keep my beauty routine simple, I always look for products that do double-duty. I love a good lip/cheek stain and tinted moisturizer, and I’m really excited about having discovered my latest obsession: Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir.

We’ve talked about our love of the Onomie brand before, but allow me another moment to brag on this small-but-mighty tube of product. The bright concealing elixir is no ordinary concealer, y’all. It hides and smooths dark circles like a pair of Spanx for your face; blends flawlessly with your skin tone; and contains powerful ingredients, like vitamin C, caffeine and alfalfa extract, to reduce the appearance of circles and discoloration over time.

To use, I blend a tiny drop between my two ring fingers and then dab around my eyes, beginning at the inner corner and up to the top of my brow bone, until the product is fully blended. Because a little goes a very long way, I also place some on my upper cheekbones to help even out my lingering melasma. And if there is still some of that tiny drop left (there usually is), I’ll swipe it down the bridge of my nose for a subtle highlight.

I’m dead-serious when I tell you to stop reading this post right now and order a tube of this concealer. You can thank me later, after you finish reading the rest of the tutorial below. *wink*

My Five-Step Beauty Routine

Stress, lack of sleep and poor eating habits are the usual by-products of the rewarding life as a working mama, all of which impact your body – particularly your skin. Here’s how I brighten my complexion, open tired eyes and pull off a fresh face in just five, easy steps.

  1. Apply tinted moisturizer with SPF on face and neck to prime, moisturize and protect from sun damage.
  2. Add a light layer of foundation for just a little bit more coverage, if needed.
  3. Dab bright concealing elixir around eyes and use to highlight, as desired, on cheeks and nose.
  4. Swipe a little cloud paint on cheeks and lips.
  5. Finish with two coats of mascara while helping your tot brush her teeth.
